Accessibility statement
Lowersideband is a non-commercial personal project. The aim is for everyone to be able to use it, and the working target is WCAG 2.1 level AA. The site has not been through a formal accessibility audit, so we cannot claim full conformance.
What has been done
- Dark, light and high-contrast themes. The site follows your system settings for light mode and high contrast until you choose one from the menu.
- Animations stop if your system asks to reduce motion, and the scrolling news ticker becomes a plain scrollable strip.
- Text is at least 12 pixels, with muted greys raised for contrast, and the layout adapts to phone widths and zoom.
- Form fields have labels, results in the tools are announced to screen readers, and keyboard focus is visibly outlined.
- Nothing relies on colour alone: statuses also say what they mean in words.
- No audio, no video and nothing that flashes.
Known limitations
- The menu panel is simple: it does not trap keyboard focus and does not close with the Escape key.
- The scrolling news ticker pauses when you hover over it, but there is no keyboard pause control.
- Some decorative text and effects, such as the small monospace labels, may be hard to read for some people.
- The downloadable cheat-sheet PDFs are not tagged for screen readers. The same content is available on the guide pages as ordinary web text.
- Interactive checks such as the auditor results and the tabletop exercise update the page without moving focus in every case.
This statement was written on 23 October 2026 and will be updated when the site changes. It is not a legal declaration of conformance.
